I’m a cheap ass. since 2012 I have been on Windows Phone and LOVE it. However, my work is killing off my exchange access and forcing everyone to use Good, which is terrible on WP. I am thinking of jumping ship, but its hard to give up my $40 phone that does everything I need it to do. Remember, i’m a cheap ass. I see the Nexus 6p is going for about $350 right now. What is out there for under that mark that would be a better choice? ATT as carrier

What carrier? The Nexus line should be a good deal right now with the Pixels still being relatively new to market. That said you can probably find pretty good deals in general as there are not many new phones hitting the market until February.

OnePlus 3 would be a better choice for not much more money. Newer, faster processor and 6GB of RAM is unheard of in an Android phone.

I’ve always been an iOS guy and haven’t used Android much. Either will replace your Windows phone just fine but, as an app developer, I can say that I see issues on Android side only when it comes to supportability with certain apps. Android is just more Wild West-y when it comes to hardware and it seems like the less expensive the phone the more likely you’ll see these issues. I guess what I’m saying is try to stay with a major player like Samsung if you go Android or at least be aware and do a lot of research if you endulge your inner cheapness in this, haha.

Earlier this year I bought a phone straight from China. Great specifications (mid range), brilliant battery (4100mAh), delivered at home for about $175 or so. Comparable to a phone double the cost. An upside of my phone is that they keep updating it. I’m still quite happy with mine.
I bought a Xiaomi Redmi3 Pro, but there’s a new model. On the website I bought it from there’s a black Friday sale tomorrow and the day after, and you could get discount coupons yesterday and the day before. I got a bunch of coupons, but can only use one. I probably have a $8 or $9 coupon left if you’re interested. I’ll probably buy the newer version of my phone for my mom. Here’s a link to the one I’m going to order (always get 3 GB RAM!)

Depends on your requirements. Generally buying lightly used can save you a ton too. The whole point of Android is that you have options depending on your hardware needs, budget, and other requirements. For me, I wanted a phone with 2GB of RAM, under $200, and no larger than the Galaxy S3. Removable battery or one that lasts 2 days with regular use was also a definitely need. I ended up with a Sony Xperia Z3 compact and couldnt be happier. The 16GB internal memory is plenty when combined with a 128gb microSD. With just regular use, I easily get 2 full days and will get a full day with heavy use (google maps, lots of screen usage, and long calls). I hate big phones so this one is perfect in that regard. Much better than the previous $60 phones I had been buying.

I just switched from a Lumia 920 to a Samsung Galaxy J3. I got it for about $200. The phone works well. It is not the star performer for speed in all applications, but gets it done.
Of course it is much easier to get applications, but the O.S. is not as good for some things. The predictive text is not nearly as good, for example. It has been stable enough though.

Does your company pay your phone bill? If not, take your work email off your phone, problem solved!
If they DO pay for your electronic leash, make them buy you a phone that works with the new email server.

I’ve been using a Huawei Honor 5x for about ten months now after the screen shattered on my Nexus 5x after about 3 months of use. I’ve been happy enough with the Huawei, and it was cheap enough ($200). The one thing that kind of sucks though is that the stock hardware just isn’t very good. If you’re not scared of rooting the phone though, that can be (fairly) easily remedied. I’ve been running on CyanaogenMod 13 for months now with no complaints at all.

+1 for OnePlus. (ha!)
My girlfriend just got her 3 after two years with the original. Great “budget” phones. Solid specs and features and the build quality is top notch. I don’t like the people dismissing the company for being Chinese. Their machinery must be the same or better than the Samsung or Motorola lines because the OnePlus 3 lacks nothing on the build quality side.

Buy a top-of-the-line phone that’s a few models behind the current ones. While everyone was shilling out god knows how much for the Galaxy S7 I was buying a brand new, never opened S5 for $75. It’s met all my needs and then some.

I’m on Cricket, which is att’s pay as you go brand. I use their Alcatel Idol 3 (i think there is a Model 4 out now). Pretty solid phone, gets good reviews for the discount models.

I switched from iOs to Windows to Android. I hated my iPhone, the Windows (Lumia 620) was the worst, and now I have a Note 4. I love the Note. Great phone, built well. I was going to get a Note7, but yeah.... Anyway the S7 Edge is a great phone. Used one for a while cause I wanted to try it (borrowed from a friend). I would suggest the Note 4, but you have to root it. With the most current update there is too much bloatware.
